Robin nest

The birds are back after a long and somewhat colder than normal winter in NC.  When going to pressure wash the vinyl siding, one noticed the nest of Robin eggs and the attending parents.  Pressure washing was delayed in favor of watching the eggs progress into hatchlings and ultimately mature birds.

Within a day or two of the below snapshots, the birds had flown the nest.

Barbecue Capital Cookoff Piedmont NC

In the Piedmont of NC, Barbecue is King. Lexington-style that is. The pork shoulder is cooked low and slow……low temperatures for a long period of time. Usually around 250 degrees F for 6 or more hours.

With such a great branding of a food product, its natural that the Piedmont towns would want to capitalize on it. One such town, City of Lexington, NC does so each year. It’s called the BBQ Capital Cookoff.

The below pictures are mostly from the music concert held Friday night, by a local band and the overwhelming attendance by visitors.  It was a great venue to bring the kids and relax over some good country music.
